Based on the response of Battle for Azeroth
In all honesty there are good reasons to believe in Dragonlfight's potential arrival in 2022. A lot of players have speculated that Dragonflight could be a lot ahead of schedule because of Blizzard shifting resources away Shadowlands over the last two years in order to concentrate more towards the expansion. Shadowlands is the only expansion within WoW WOTLK classic history to receive two content patches over its duration. Although Blizzard claims that having just two patches of content was the goal for Shadowlands however, many players believe that a third update (which is standard in expansions) was eliminated so that Blizzard could allocate additional development funds to Dragonflight.
The fans are also pointing to the fact of the fact that, for the first time in a long period of time, Dragonflight won't include complicated "borrowed power" systems, which usually require thorough testing because of their complex nature. In Legion Artifacts, it was the case. Battle for Azeroth featured the much-disliked Azerite Gear system while Shadowlands included Covenants. Both of these features basically introduced new abilities and progression systems for each class. This will not be the case with Dragonflight. The new expansion will have new talent trees that are more reminiscent of WoW WOTLK classic's beginning days for every class, they're not connected to any other type of progression system and, hopefully, that they'll need less testing than the other recent expansions.
This could be an optimistic assumption, however. Since players haven't been able to test the alphaversion, it's difficult to know the condition Dragonflight is currently in, or whether it's ready to be released by the end of the year. Blizzard has kept its pledge to incorporate more feedback from players into the development of WoW WOTLK classic as players made important suggestions and contributions in the testing phase for WoW WOTLK classic's 9.2 patch that found their inclusion into the final version. We can only hope that the testing process of Dragonflight will be handled similarly. Fans, for instance, have already received some feedback on the Dracthyr race that is coming to. However, If Blizzard is quick to get the game out to 2022, then extensive testing may not be feasible.
