We had said we weren't going to try it. And then, throughout the early part of 2017. we sort of figured out how to accomplish it. Therefore, announcing this to BlizzCon was one of my most memorable moments of work. It was truly a shocker. It was really something that was not something that anyone thought we would do in the future because of our remarks about it.
To come complete circle here, which is nearly two years later and to be able to witness the massive amount of excitement as well as the huge amount of enthusiasm, the vast number of people who have returned for the second time, people who played in the past in the past, and also those who have never had the chance to experience what the first days really like ... It's been--this phrase resonates but it's also not sufficient. It's extremely satisfying and satisfying to witness the enthusiasm of the fan base and feel the community grow as it did. But it's been a peak professional experience, no doubt.
Also, take in a moment and looking at the way you came to your current position. What were your goals, and what were the key points of interest that you identified prior to taking on this role of leadership in Blizzard?
I think that the aspect that was the most significant--and I think is why Mike [Morhaime, co-founder and former president of Blizzardwas able to choose me to be the president--was knowing that Blizzard is a true developer-led company and that the product and the game focus we have (are) present, throughout all the leadership levels and is really important and strong.
So one initial thing that I made was to take Ray Gresko on as the chief development officer. Then, I also to add Allen Adham to the executive team to raise the percentage of employees who are making games as well as recently created games, a lot more. We're focusing on our mainstays and the thing that has made Blizzard's amazing game, which is the games. It's most important, the beginning of our efforts to achieve.
