MMOexp: How to Push Your Odin Build to the Next Level
In a game as progression-heavy and stat-driven as Odin: Valhalla Rising, true power isn’t defined by a single lucky pull or one over-enhanced weapon. It’s the culmination of systems layered on top of systems—gear sets, runes, avatars, mounts, collections, imprints, accessories, and long-term optimization goals that slowly push your character from “strong” to legitimately endgame viable.
Right now, this build represents a player deep in that climb—well into Z5 territory, balancing boss survivability with high crit scaling, and preparing for a late-game pivot into near-permanent critical strikes. Let’s break down the structure, the logic behind the choices, and where this build is headed.
The Core Weapon and Set Foundation
At the center of this setup is a +7 Ulbert Bow, already a respectable enhancement level and clearly tuned for sustained damage output. While not maxed, it’s strong enough to anchor both grinding and boss-focused play.
For armor synergy, the build runs:
Spart + Managarm Gloves (2-set Fall of Vern bonus – 5% All Damage)
Void Ruler Chest and Boots
The Fall of Vern 2-set bonus gives a flat 5% all damage increase—an excellent early-to-mid endgame scaling tool. There is technically another set offering +5 attack that may edge it out in raw value, but 5% all damage scales beautifully with crit multipliers and skill damage.
The glove choice is deliberate. Instead of opting for Wood Spirit, this build leans into Managarm + Blade Feather for critical strike chance. That decision becomes extremely important when you look at the long-term goal: pushing toward 90% crit rate.
Stat Philosophy: Why Crit Is King
Current stat snapshot:
Crit Strike Chance: 72%
Crit Strike Damage: 90%
Defense: 366
Dodge: 266
All Damage Taken Reduction: 14%
Absolute Damage Reduction: 7.5%
Movement Speed: 37
MP Regen: 33
Total Attack Level: ~101
Defense Level: 87
On paper, 90% crit damage might seem fine—but in a build planning to reach 90% crit chance, it’s actually under-optimized.
Why?
Because once you approach “always critting,” every additional percentage of crit damage scales your entire output. That’s why this build is intentionally sacrificing raw attack in certain slots (for example, rolling crit chance on weapon instead of +5 attack) to hit a critical mass breakpoint.
The long-term vision is simple:
Lose 11 attack → Gain 11 crit chance → Reach 90% crit → Stack crit damage aggressively.
That’s not a small shift. That’s a fundamental scaling pivot.
Accessories: Accuracy for Z5 Survival
Z5 changes everything.
Once you move into higher-tier zones, accuracy becomes non-negotiable. That’s why the +6 Valkyrie accessory is so critical. Without proper accuracy, your theoretical DPS collapses because missed attacks invalidate crit stacking entirely.
Current accessory loadout:
+6 Valkyrie (accuracy core)
Scatty
Negle Ring
Thunderbolt
+6 Winter Earring (defense focused)
All are rolled with max attack, except the Winter Earring, which holds +5 defense—a boss survival decision.
But this isn’t the final form.
For grinding and B7 EXP farming, the plan is to craft Vidapaneer Earrings, which grant:
+4 attack
+4% skill damage
Those will be rolled for attack and swapped in during farming sessions.
For bosses, however, that extra 17 defense from Winter Earring makes a significant survivability difference. Z5 bosses and high-tier melee encounters can punish glass-cannon setups hard.
The real bottleneck? Refined Good Bells.
Trade post scarcity is slowing progression. With only a couple available and prices spiking toward 100, the crafting path becomes time-gated by the market. This is one of the realities of Odin’s economy-driven progression.
Nine failed +6 to +7 attempts have slowed progression, but the goal is clear: push both core defensive and melee-reduction pieces to +7 within a month.
For Z5 specifically, melee damage reduction accessories are highly recommended. Most bosses deal melee damage, so stacking reduction dramatically improves survivability.
Importantly, adornments are being delayed until reaching +7. This is optimal play. There’s no reason to invest heavily into adornments before hitting a stable enhancement tier.
One accessory currently holds:
Crit Strike Chance +3
Another:
+3 Attack (effectively a gold-tier attack roll)
Future plan? Push one to +8 in two months before max investing.
Runes: Best-in-Slot Framework
The rune setup is structurally optimal:
Preset 1:
Accuracy
Accuracy
Crit Strike Chance
Preset 2 (planned):
Accuracy
Accuracy
Accuracy (for boss fights and Z5 grinding)
Key rune effects include:
Attack stacking every five basic attacks
Skill damage amplification
+10% Crit Strike Chance rune
Multiple “Give Attack” runes
Verdande synergy rune
Critical common skill rune
These are effectively best-in-slot choices. The only missing piece? Upgrading them all to purple and completing the 3-set accuracy configuration.
Runes in Odin are deceptively powerful. They’re not flashy—but they multiply everything else.
Avatars: PvE, PvP, and the Crit Dream
This account has progressed dramatically in avatar development—now holding three legendary avatars.
For PvP rogue play, Assassin is mandatory. That synergy enables burst potential and mobility control essential in competitive encounters.
Currently using:
Legendary Battle Theaza
But the real target is Bessa.
Why?
If already at 90% crit strike chance, Bessa’s:
+15% Crit Strike Damage
Outperforms avatars granting:
6% All Damage
When critting nearly every hit, crit damage scales harder than flat damage bonuses. That’s the optimization logic.
Mount Goals: Hayrock and the Crit Stack
Current mount:
Scaliner (excellent)
Desired mount:
Hayrock
Hayrock offers:
+11% Crit Strike Damage
Combine that with:
Bessa’s +15%
Stamp upgrades (~18%)
Collection bonuses (~11%)
You’re looking at massive crit damage scaling.
Mount collections also provide:
Attack bonuses
Accuracy boosts
Collection stacking in Odin is enormous. Epics and Legendaries don’t just provide individual stats—they unlock passive bonuses across the entire account.
Imprints and Stamps: The Hidden Grind
Thousands of rolls chasing “Better or Above” EXP bonuses illustrate one of Odin’s most punishing progression systems.
Now shifting focus toward:
Crit Strike Damage
Attack
All Damage
Defense
Attack Speed
Accuracy
Slot three and five are statistically most likely to roll crit damage (~7% chance), making them prime targets.
If all hit “Better or Above,” that’s roughly +18% crit damage from stamps alone.
That’s not incremental. That’s transformative.
Collection Optimization: The Silent Multiplier
Here’s where this build still has massive upside:
+7 Attack possible from accessories
+3 more via adorning
+6 from weapon skin
+6 from ground mount
+2 from Legendary avatar collection
+11 Crit Damage from item collection
+Accuracy bonuses from mount collection
This is why Odin rewards long-term investment. You can gain significant stat growth without touching core gear.
Just unlocking more epics and legendaries shifts your baseline.
The Helmet Wall
One of the biggest immediate power spikes would come from:
+12 Helmet
Enhancing helmets at that tier is notoriously brutal. The failure rate becomes psychologically draining—but the payoff is massive.
Until that lands, the build remains slightly below its true potential.
Defensive Identity: Tanky Crit Archer
Even with “only” 366 defense, this build isn’t fragile.
With:
14% damage reduction
7.5% absolute reduction
Melee damage reduction accessories (future)
266 dodge
It operates as a durable DPS archer, not a glass cannon.
That balance is crucial in Z5, where sustained uptime matters more than theoretical DPS spikes.
The Road to 90% Crit
The final evolution looks like this:
Hit 90% Crit Strike Chance.
Replace attack rolls with crit scaling.
Stack crit damage via:
Bessa avatar
Hayrock mount
Stamp upgrades
Item collection
Maintain Z5 accuracy thresholds.
Push accessories to +7 and beyond.
At that point, nearly every hit crits—and those crits hit brutally hard.
Why This Is the Fun of Odin
The magic of Odin: Valhalla Rising isn’t in one legendary drop.
It’s in planning months ahead:
Swapping boss vs grind accessories.
Holding off adornments until +7.
Saving for rare market materials.
Building two rune presets.
Targeting specific legendary avatars.
Optimizing collection bonuses.
Calculating crit breakpoints.
This account is already strong—but what makes it exciting is how much headroom remains.
There’s still:
A legendary weapon skin to acquire.
Multiple mount upgrades.
Avatar collection thresholds.
Crit damage scaling expansion.
Helmet enhancement chase.
Rune rarity upgrades.
And that’s the essence of endgame Odin.
Not perfection.
But progression with direction.
