The closed network test of Delta Force on console

I first played Delta Force back at its original release on PC, and while I greatly enjoyed the game, seeing its massive potential, a few things stood out to me. Firstly, I thought, “This game is beautiful, how will it ever run on console?” Secondly, and more importantly to me, was the lack of controller support for the PC version at the time, which is something I have brought to the developers’ attention on multiple occasions.

It’s fair to say that I was very hesitant going into the console version, as I wasn’t sure how the game would translate across. It’s important to note that this is not a review; we have already covered that with the PC version, which you can read here.

I was fortunate enough to gain access to the closed network test of Delta Force on console a little while ago, and I have to say I was immediately impressed. Not only does the game translate well to a controller, but in most cases, I’d argue it’s the best way to play the game now in 2025 on any platform.

Even more impressive than that, however, is the way that Delta Force still looks great on console. Characters, animations, and environments all looked great in the short time I had with the console version. While it’s definitely a downgrade from the highest settings available on PC, of course, but most people don’t run the game that way anyway, and Delta Force’s presentation on console keeps up with its contemporaries.

One thing that did surprise me, however, was the lack of keyboard and mouse support on console, especially considering that Delta Force was designed as a keyboard and mouse–first game. So, I asked the developers about this, the challenges of bringing Delta Force to console, and much more in the Q&A below.
