It is highly likely that his presence will be felt through these intermediaries unless events take his hands. Tyrael is still feeling the repercussions of the destruction of the Worldstone at the end of Diablo 2. That mystical artifact protected Sanctuary from Heaven and Hell and currently serves as a protector over the land on its behalf. Tyrael doesn't appear to be leading any further fights to Diablo IV Gold Hell or venture much further then to the Pandemonium Fortress, where he may offer advice like Deckard Cain for those who choose to listen.

Five different Diablo classes that can be played have been released so far and they all offer different versions of the previous games. In the sense that each installment has brought something new to the table Perhaps Tyrael will be a part of the battle and help balance the sides by providing players with the possibility to be transformed into angels or demon-like abilities in exchange for duty to Sanctuary. This type of mechanic could very easily build on the multi-tree advancement already confirmed for the series.

It is unlikely that Blizzard plans to transform Angels or Demons into classes, since the franchise centers those trapped between their ways. But as the only mortal who is caught between Heaven and Hell Tyrael is in a position unlike any other in Diablo legends. He's likely to be an actor of balance throughout the story, and maybe even the voice of reason rather than taking sides as his former self. When he's forced into taking the side of his opponent, Tyrael has come to understand the importance of mortals, and that is how he will most likely take part in the events in Diablo 4.

The way Blizzard speccifies the character of Diablo 4 is a blend of the strategy of the studio for Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. The executive producer and director of the Diablo franchise Rod Fergusson put it, "Diablo 2 felt like you were locking in. You had the ability to respec each difficulty. With D3, you kind of changed your character like you were changing your clothes. Everything was gear-based as opposed to skill-based."Fergusson added, "I think the fact that we have skills on the equipment [in Diablo 4] is really nice for experimentation -- as a sorceress I [might] get Blizzard [on a pair of boots] three levels before I should and I can try Blizzard to see if I actually want it."

The game's director Joe Shely told Polygon in an interview roundtable, in a roundtable interview that "having your character appear to be a compilation of choices that you made can lead to interesting decisions, at least intriguing opportunities."Shely explained it's because the Diablo team is aware that players, especially in the beginning, don't have an understanding of the various classes' capabilities. It is expected that players want to explore.
