Diablo 3's launch in 2012 was a complete disaster due to its requirement for always-online connectivity as well as broken servers and a real-money auction house that nobody liked or wanted. Now, more than a decade more later, we're aware that eventually Blizzard brought things back to track in the form of Diablo 3 and ended up making a fantastic ARPG. However, why did it take nearly two years for Blizzard to take down that irritating real-money auction house? It seems you could blame the box the game was shipped in and their printed promises of an operational auction house.

As reported via PC Gamer, some former Blizzard and Blizzard North employees were part of an open forum at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. In the panel, the group of ex- Blizz developers discussed the history of Diablo as well as their own connection to the games, and shared their stories of developing the famous series. During the panel, an ex-designer who was the lead on Diablo 3, Jay Wilson was interviewed about the controversial auction house, discussing its beginnings and more.

"When I was at Blizzard," said Wilson, "the reason for doing the real-money auction house was to ensure security. The reason was not money. We weren't expecting to earn any money off it. The main problem with Diablo 2 was item duping and duping hacks as well as all that gold selling, as well as all those things."

According to Wilson explained, Blizzard's solution to avoid this problem with Diablo 3 was to take control of the trading market. This was also the motive behind the game's move to require an always-on internet connection. Wilson states that when you give an offline client, hackers "got the game." So always online , and the auction house was Blizzard's attempt at resolving issues from Diablo 2.

In the short time following its launch in 2012, Diablo 3's auction house became seen as one of the most flaws of the game, being constantly mocked and critiqued by the community. It was a challenge to remove it and it wasn't because of technical issues. Instead, its deferred removal for 2014 was due to the auction house was a promise feature of the game. It was printed on all of its retail boxes as well as there were legal issues to cut it.If you want to learn more about Diablo 4 Gold, piease vist MMOexp
