FIFA 23 will be more representative than ever
What's less clear is career mode's constant efforts to make you play less football. EA already had added numerous training elements which felt like administration, but now you also have the option to only take part in highlights of games rather than the entire 90 minutes. For a football game this is a little confusing.
FIFA may not be the most appropriate game to showcase the power of your console. However, there are some neat improvements to 23 that help to enhance that sense of realism just a little more like the way the nets of the goal ripple, or the way that sliding tackles cause the pitch to break up over the course of 90 minutes.
EA is keen to trumpet the effectiveness of its HyperMotion2 motion-capture tech, which makes player movement look more real. In the past, it's been made available to women , as well as males. While the physical differences are perhaps less noticeable than they are with male players, it's a further step in making female game seem less like an unimportant inclusion.
There's still a ways to go, but. The addition of the Women's Super League and France's Division 1 Feminine takes the number of teams to 41, but they're unable to play as in every mode including career mode, making FUT being the most obvious omissions.
FIFA 23 will be more representative than ever before but when you're able start your career as AFC Richmond from Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso, but not as Chelsea or Arsenal's women's clubs, there's obviously still potential to improve.
