Act 3 of Path of Exile 2 presents players with a formidable challenge in the form of Doryani, a boss whose presence in the Stone Citadel tests both strategy and endurance. Known as the former Emperor of Oriath, Doryani's legacy in the game is steeped in power, corruption, and a mastery of lightning and elemental magics. His encounter marks a turning point in Act 3, demanding precise timing, resource management, and a deep understanding of his attack patterns.

Entering the Stone Citadel, players are immediately confronted with the oppressive atmosphere that characterizes Doryani's domain. The citadel itself is a sprawling fortress, combining jagged architecture with corrupted energy that hints at the danger within. Visual cues, such as the crackling lightning and molten veins running through the floors, serve as both aesthetic design and gameplay warning players must stay alert to environmental hazards that complement Doryani's own abilities. The design encourages careful navigation while maintaining the sense of urgency typical of high-level boss encounters.

Doryani's combat style is centered around his command of lightning and elemental forces. Unlike many earlier bosses, he uses a combination of area-of-effect attacks and direct-targeted strikes that punish players who fail to anticipate his patterns. One of his signature abilities, Conduit of Power, channels arcs of lightning across the battlefield, forcing players to keep moving and strategically position themselves behind cover when possible. Simultaneously, Doryani summons electrified minions that harass and distract, making crowd control an essential component of the fight. This dual-layered approach ensures that players cannot rely solely on brute force; timing, dodging, and tactical skill are critical.

In addition to his offensive capabilities, Doryani introduces mechanics that test resource management and defensive planning. During the fight, he periodically creates Lightning Storm Zones, which linger on the battlefield and cause severe damage over time to any player caught within them. These zones require constant awareness and adaptability, as positioning mistakes can quickly deplete health and mana. Players who have carefully prepared flasks and defensive buffs will find these encounters manageable, while those unprepared may struggle to survive his relentless assaults. The fight emphasizes the importance of synergy between gear, skill setup, and quick reflexes.

Another defining aspect of Doryani's encounter is his phased transformation, which occurs at roughly 50% health. At this point, the battlefield itself changes, with additional hazards emerging and the boss adopting more aggressive patterns. Lightning arcs become more frequent and unpredictable, and the summons grow in both number and power. This phase not only ramps up the difficulty but also reinforces the narrative of Doryani as a being whose strength and corruption are escalating in real time. Players must adjust their tactics, shifting from defensive evasion to controlled aggression to avoid being overwhelmed.
