We spoke to Diablo 4 director Joe Shely
We spoke to Diablo 4 director Joe Shely and general manager of the Diablo franchise Rod Fergusson about the current situation of Diablo and what their future plans are for Diablo 4. as well as how the game has been designed to achieve them.
This is a major moment for Diablo. The launch of Immortal and you've also shown some in Diablo 4. Rod as the overseer over the Diablo franchise, could you give us an update on the temperature of the Diablo franchise? Where is it and where do you think it ought to be?
Rod Fergusson: I think it's never been an ideal time to be an Diablo fan or Diablo player. There's Diablo in play, it's been playing for 10 years but even in the most recent season, Season 26. there are 150 million hours of play.
In reality, we've just have surpassed 65 million players that played Diablo. The month of September had Diablo 2: Resurrected come backand more than five million players that came back to play the D2:R game, an old hardcore PC game which has been upgraded and available on console too.
Immortal is just released, which is the biggest free-to-play mobile experience. It gets to reach a number of players, reaching the 3 billion gamers who might only play on mobile. And so having that free-to-play on mobile , they can play wherever they are.
A lack of barriers to entry will mean that a lot of people are going to have the chance to play Diablo. Of course, we'll get Diablo 4 coming really soon and it's just the cherry of that sundae. We're excited to have the feeling of returning to the dark side which Diablo 4 represents. Hi guys, are you a fan of the D2R Items too? you can visit https://www.p2pah.com/
