As part of a audio interview (via Windows Central), Vicarious Visions studio design director Rob Gallerani and project lead Michael Bukowski discussed the creation of Diablo: Resurrected and also touched on what the future might include. Gallerani explained that the team is concentrated on getting the basic game working, but that there are plenty ideas to think about what's next.

"We wanted to lay solid foundations before we began discussing the third and fourth floors on this building," Gallerani said. "If we misstepped on the game's fundamental elements, anything else we did would have been kind of insignificant. [...]We certainly have plenty of ideas, but right this moment, we're waiting on making sure that we've got the essential game just right. [...] We'll have to see once the game goes live how we handle new wordings, new items and the rebalancing process, etc."

Certain changes will become available as Diablo: Resurrected launches, including the inclusion of previously ladder-only runewords and items made available to every player and the fact that it's accessible on consoles. The game also won't have the original's TCP/IP capability that was removed because of security reasons.

Diablo: Resurrected will release on September 23. As Blizzard continues to confront the aftermath of a California state of California lawsuit accusing Activision Blizzard of fostering a work environment that was rife with discrimination and harassment towards women. The lawsuit's accusations led to the departure of a variety of Blizzard veterans as well as former Diablo IV game director Luis Barriga. Diablo IV does not currently have an expected release date.

Rapidly joining games and creating new ones is a major issue for Diablo: Resurrected, causing Blizzard to implement limits on how quickly the game can be done. Since the game is an adaptation of the original's software and was not designed to accommodate the modern-day Diablo players.
