Seriously, I think the only notable character the man beat in a fair battle was Taran Zhu. Even the fight was pretty close.

He was able to completely lose his final battle against Thrall. I'll be honest, he lost his second battle against Varian and also his duel with Cairne. He was defeated in the first battle, which was cut shorter, and he won in the next fight unjustly.

They battled three times but were interrupted by each of them. The third time they fought in Wolfheart, Varian only gains an advantage because the Lo'Gash blessing has blessed him and has unending stamina. They are evenly matched as they fight in the tides of War.

He was a Mary Sue from the beginning. He was a stronger fighter than Orgrim Doomhammer, but also an expert in the practices of shamanism.

Garrosh was not a participant in the Cataclysms wars, he lead the invasion of the Twilight Highlands and beat a dragon to death while they did it. I remember theories flying around during MoP that our Garrosh was an impostor and was brought to power by the twilight Hammer, and he went missing.

I've always thought it was a bit annoying to see that people forget that Thrall was an athletic prodigy right from the start. However, I enjoy his shaman-like blustering. In fact, his character hasn't been a warrior-like one since WotLK.

Yes, I agree. However, there is something not right with Garrosh as the char. He's said to be an incredible warrior, but in novels such as The shattering, the only reason is that his dad was aswell. It's not shown. If it weren't for the cheating, he could have lost to Cairne. Let's face it, Thrall could have taken off Cairne at the time. I believe that Garrosh is a skilled warrior, but how good can he truly be in the light of your arguments? Green jesus is not so good.

Thrall's training and upbringing. By the time we get to the present, Thrall hasn't seen actual real combat for a long time up to a decade or more. He was the one who led the uprising against the prison camps, formed the modern Horde after which he slipped into a leadership role, and later shifted into an primarily shamanistic position. Sure - he has some impressive muscle memory, and may have had regular sparring sessions and occasionally took an excursion on the PC, but you take an extended break from everything and you'll do your best to avoid it. It's true that he's skilled but maybe not as effective as a top or comparable warrior.
