Definition
- Culture is basically everything that society has ever created throughout the history of the mankind
Separation of culture
- We can categorize culture into many branches by many criterias. The first and most used is tangibility. The tangible part of culture is comprised of everything that we can touch. This category can be divided into two smaller subdivisions – movable and immovable. The intangible part of culture consists of prevailing social norms, opinions, thoughts, traditions and law. Let me give you some examples…
- A movable tangible piece of culture is a basil, a vase or a book
- An immovable tangible section of culture is a castle or a historical building
- An intangible part of culture is a tradition of the man being the head of the family and the women being the one who takes care of the smooth running of the home
Now that we have successfully outlined the notional structure of culture, I would like to talk about how people led their culture lifes in the course of the history:
In the ancient times, the greatest place to experience a cultural life was a theather where people gathered to observe a play. They laughed, talked, shared opinions and created new ones. It is important to say that the theather as a significant cultural tool has remained in existence till now, but its popularity has declined.
In the mediaval times, theologies were constituting the major part of the cultural life, but as the time went and new technologies were invited, even religions started founding themselves in the background. With the creation of the film and the gain of the ability to shoot, movie theathers came to the foreground, where they have stayed till today. I have forgotten to mention one crucial creator of the culture which is music. Music has been here ever since and has evolved enormously compared to where it began. These are the most visible factors that influenced several different cultures in the past. Now I would like to tell you about the way in which people spend their cultural lifes today.
Cinemas
- see a movie they are intersted in
- simultaneously eat some tasty food such as popcorn
- an opportunity to escape the pressure of our duties
- in the begginigs, cinemas were quite cheap, but nowadays are unbeliavebly pricey which is very annoying
- I would say that there are two tyes of cinemas – those which play only new releases and those which have their repertoire much more colorful, that means that they play also old movies to which people are certainly attracted, but are not able to see the majority of cinemas
Theathre
- as I said, not as popular as it was in the past, but there are many stalwart fans who are commited to this type of entertaiment
- Here in the Czech republic, there are many theathers in which people can watch a great range of plays
- Whats more, tickets are more than affordable
- the most famous place to visit a play is probably the National Theathre in Prague, which has been standind and functioning since the second half othe the 19th century, not only plays are here performed to be seen, but also balet and operas, the oly disadvantage of this theathre is its expensive tickets

Art
- nowaydays, there are many manners in which to see art
- the most favourite among the majority of people are National Galeries and Galeries, where there are exhibited several different types of art
- That means that everyone can find what he trully likes and enjoy it
- Recetnly there has been a decrease in the numbers of visitors of galeries, I honestly think that it is cause by the fact that art is too slow and boring for people
Music festivals
- Music festivals are exceptionally popular these days. It is simply said an event. Where people gather with their peers and friends to listen to their beloved music bands
- This mean if entertaiment is usually accompanied with great amounts of alcohol
Literature
- Literature is a social source of the utmost importance, but today a little underrated due to the fact that people think that reading is boring and time-consuming
- In the second half of the 20th century, literature helped czech citizens to fight communisms
- Generally, literature varies unbelievably – wary about something, in the form of just a story, historic reading, scientific reading, fairytales for kids that help parents with bringing up their children and many other
Sports
- People once we were sedantary and told themselves that they should be more active besidesonly working all the time
- Thats how sport was invented and today it is a widespread social event
