The ESPN license was added to the series
The ESPN license was added to the series in a big manner with ESPN NBA Basketball prior to when ESPN NBA 2K5 was released. It was a landmark entry since it was the last NBA game released by SEGA before the company was sold. Although the ESPN presentation was certainly the most impressive, it was eventually discontinued. Ben Wallace was the first person to host the game, and he was also Allen Iverson's first. The game had two modes to play, 24/7 and Association. Both received mixed reviews. The gameplay was amazing and it only cost $20 tag, which made it a great value.
There are four games that have an 87 rating. NBA 2K14 from 2K16 all received the same score, which indicates the uniformity of the franchise. 2K14 included the LeBron James: Path to Greatness mode, Euroleague teams, and an amazing soundtrack. 2K15 didn't do anything new, but it added to the existing content. 2K16 was huge in how it introduced the concept of creating a custom MyLeague including things like moving franchises. This enabled players to establish their own leagues. This was also the time when MyCareer mode turn into an exclusive experience.
NBA 2K18 is the fourth tied game with an 87 rating. It's in a position of its own because the lowest score it received on a platform was a score of 74 on the Nintendo Switch, which is more than previous games' lowest. The cover of this issue includes Kyrie Irving.
